Subliminal Advertising in Commercials - Is America Getting Fat?
Learning is a multiple step process, which usually starts with learning to read.
However, reading is not the only method of learning, there are also several other methods which are beneficial to the student and the novice alike, one of which is visual perception.
Visual perception is used most often in broadcast media you can see it in television commercials, video media can be used very effectively to teach students by exposing them to various methods of induction of the material the teacher wishes to impart to the student.
Text and the art of visual perception.
Text is used very often as one of the most effective means of communicating and teaching, more recently animation has been added to enhance the retention level of the student.
In some environments animated text is used not only to communicate but to stimulate the syntax of the brain, some scientists believe that by using structured and targeted animated text the cortex of the brain can be stimulated to enhance the learning process.
Subliminal networking and the human consciousness.
The beginnings of subliminal networking may not be clearly known in fact this is a subject that many broadcast professionals may indeed wish no one knew about, more so with the professional advertising agency, which some say are using subliminal techniques in advertising now.
The use of subliminal content in advertising has been in existence for some time now since the early days of psychology and in fact there may have been some laws passed in the early 1950s, Which prohibited the use of a certain technology which superimposed an image of text and or a product such as a coke or popcorn, this was accomplished with the use of a device used in the early days of the theatre projection where suggestions or subliminally featured images and or text were posted to the screen suggested that the viewer go and purchase a coke or buy popcorn or some other confection.
Subliminal networking is it your thoughts or your influenced conscious?
Subliminal networking is a new take on an old technology which could be considered mind suggestion of a sort, however it is not clear if this newer form of subliminal networking is actually as close to the older possibly illegal method of suggestion, used by theatre projectionist's in the early days of this advertising medium.
These days with computerized video and the speed at which you can design a commercial or what is called a frame rate you could literally push the speed or the frame rate of a video upwards of more than 180 frames per second, which could make it almost impossible for the human eye to perceive all the images that are presented.
So the question remains, with all the commercials showing various foods are people eating more food because they are bombarded with commercials about eating food.
The idea that your nearest fast food merchant, could be engaging in this type of advertising is a little disturbing and it sort of sounds like one of those crack pot theories, you see on science fiction movies.
The truth is that what we watch on TV could really have an impact on how we choose to eat, so the next time your sitting up late at night and you suddenly get the urge to put a pizza in the microwave, think twice you may just be getting fat because of the commercials you are watching on TV.
