5 Tips To Help Ensure Your DirecTV Installation Goes Smoothly

The installation process to activate DirecTV within your home is simple. Once you set the appointment, the satellite broadcast provider will send one or more trained technicians to your residence to install the system. They won't cause any damage to your roof, balcony, or yard. Nor should you be concerned that the dish will obscure your view from any of the windows. As long as the dish can be positioned and directed southward with a clear line of sight, the technicians have flexibility with regard to location.

This is not to suggest that you shouldn't prepare your home for the technicians' arrival. In fact, there are several things you can do that will help ensure the installation is performed quickly and without problems. Here are five tips to help make the process go smoothly.

#1 - Pick Your Rooms

If you know that you'd like to enjoy DirecTV in multiple rooms, select them in advance. Many providers will install the necessary hardware in multiple rooms without charging an extra fee. However, if you neglect to choose them prior to the installation, the installers will lose valuable time.

#2 - Move Your Televisions

The installers will need to access the connections behind your televisions. You can save them time by moving your televisions away from the wall prior to their arrival. That will provide the technicians with easy access.

#3 - Allocate Two Hours

Every installation is a little different. The amount of time it requires can be heavily influenced by a number of factors, including access to your roof and the number of rooms in which Direct TV is to be installed. Try to allocate at least two hours for the entire job. That will provide the installers enough time to mount the dish, set the hardware, and wire the connections without feeling rushed. It will also give them an opportunity to provide a demonstration of the system.

#4 - Check With Your Property Manager

If you do not own your residence (for example, you rent an apartment or house), check with your property manager or landlord to make sure they are fine with having DirecTV installed. There may be local regulations that prohibit it. Similarly, if you live under the jurisdiction of a homeowners association, check to make sure that the installation does not violate their rules.

#5 - Have An Adult Present

If you cannot be there to greet the technicians, make sure that someone over 18 is at your home in your absence. This person will need to sign the paperwork for the installation.

Having DirecTV installed gives you and your family access to a wide variety of television entertainment options. From premier movie channels to sports packages, and educational programming to an assortment of music stations, you'll enjoy a seemingly limitless inventory that delivers an engaging TV experience.
